Most of the buildings are not accessible. The view from the castle was not that spectacular. There are some interesting sculpture throughout the open space though. Not worth a special trip for the castle, but if you're going to Aker brygge area or the Nobel Peace Centre, it's just a few minutes walk away.

We did not find this attraction all that special and attractive. The place looked a bit deserted and not that well kept.

...or Kristiania should I say ? Anyway; the essence is 'history'. As the city made its fortune through naval trade, the castle at the strategical spot is the center of this history. The castle is in a quite good state; well maintained and easily accessible. I was there in the afternoon and had a chance to record the marvellous Oslo... More

This was an average trip, we weren't able to go inside any of the buildings - maybe this was just closed on the particular day I visited? The outside grounds are pretty average. I'm not sure how people spend approx 1hr - 1.5 hrs here :-/ I'd imagine it would look nice on a sunny day (was a pretty miserable... More

You can walk around the fortress grounds for free. Because modern development on the grounds is kept to a minimum, you can begin to imagine what it must have been like in medieval or renaissance times. It's quite a lovely stroll with commanding views over the harbor and back toward the city. Enter the fortress from the western end of... More

We enjoyed padding around the grounds and taking in the views on a quiet Saturday afternoon. There are lots of corners to discover and several points to use the bathroom or find out more. You can enter the castle for about 60NOK which is quite cheap but we didn't have the stamina to do it after what was an already... More

You can visit the inside of the festning or just walk around the Akershus festning for free. It's really nice!

We visited the Fortress after a snowstorm and the setting was lovely. Nice views. Really enjoyed the winter wonderland ambiance! Not in the same league as many European castles and forts but it really was lovely thanks to the snow!

Be sure to come on weekend, so you can go inside the castle. We were on Friday in February and it was closed. But the territory was good to see also,

The castle itself is free to get into and has lots of museums within in such as the Resistance Museum and the Armed Forces Museum. There is a bit of walking in and around it as well as some great views. It's started snowing during our visit but it was still very enjoyable and worth a visit. It is also... More
