Great place to meander and shop. If you can, either read up on the history or get an escorted tour to tell you about the area and the buildings.

This is the oldest part of Bergen which starts beside the quay with colourful wooden buildings. Loads of little streets and alleys full of beautiful old wooden buildings which open into squares and courtyards lead off from the quayside. A place not to be missed when in Bergen.

The wharf is a true delight to walk along and wind you way up the small alley that contain hidden gem shops. There are benches along the front by the harbour and is an excellt place for photos of the wharf.

A very pleasant waterfront area to wander around and explore. They are still reviving some of the properties but it did not spoil the experience. Great to wander around the back alleys and window shop.

We spent hours wandering around, looking at the detail on the buildings, exploring the back alleys and popping into stores to buy Norwegian sweaters, scarves and other souvenirs. Had a really nice reindeer steak dinner in one of the restaurants on a back street. Great place to spend a few hours, you can feel the history around you.

This is what people think of when they hear Bergen, Norway. The shops and restaurants along this street are truly adorable with old world charm. You can get outstanding pastries here, ice cream, sandwiches and enjoy plenty of seating along the waterside. You can't imagine a more enjoyable place when the weather is nice. And if you absolutely must have... More

If you are in to gift shops and tourist shops this is the place. But even with all the tourist stuff it is a great place to stroll around and see a 1,000 year old town

I have visited this place many times, it is one of my favorite places in Bergen, but perhaps it is because I love history and to be able to walk through its corridors makes me feel like if I was there many years ago. It doesn't take too long to explore it, but if you pay attention to the buildings... More

Very beautiful well kept area, worth visiting. Very expensive bars but it is to be expected in Norway.
