Great hike

Around three to five hours hike. Scenic route and well spent hours when in Bergen. You don't need special hiking gear but some good shoes are mandatory!

Whoever said its a three to five hour hike, lied. That's a lie, you can't walk in shoes in the winter you need big boots. The views and pictures are good, the staff are all playmate bunnies in snow suits. You still need water and food for the trip.

Should probably mention that I did this in the peak snow of mid January, so unlike all the reviews warning of bog and rocks I saw / traversed none of that, instead the landscape was a Hoth-like expanse of snow and more snow. I pride myself in doing hikes fast, but this still took me a good 4 + a... More

This is a must for hiking lovers. The whole trail is well marked by intermittent posts. We went on a sunny day. It was picturesque. We could see the Folgefonna glacier while walking. It's a long walk (13 km) so we started early. The calmness of the route is really enjoyable. We preferred to start from Ulriken and reached Fløyen... More

A must for who love hiking and nature, the trail starts from the top of the mount Ulriken; you can reach the top of Ulriken from the city hospital that your can reach with the public bus with a well marked path, more or less at the middle of the path you will chose if continue with the path on... The hike was amazing! Both funicular rides were beautiful. The cafe at Ulriken packed a great lunch. I had hard time finding the starting place for my trail but the workers at the top were all very kind and easily showed me where to go. Be sure to check the signs and follow the trail markers along the way. I... More

We started at Mt Ulriken and walked for around 7 hours to reach Mt Floyen. You can find the path easily by following the signage or the rock tower. The path was not very steep except one or two point you need to climb or go down with 4 limbs. Waterproof hiking shoes were necessary as there was quite a... More

The hike brings you through what might as well be another dimension in the mountains above Bergen. There you can see, on a clear day, far into the distance. You'll encounter bodies of fresh water that seem to defy physics and great expanses of inhospitable, but terribly beautiful rolling grasses, stones and moss. The hike is rocky and sometimes a... 2 adults, 2 teenagers, early august 2016 the weather was supposed to be good, no rain scheduled for the entire day (as opposed to all the other days we were spending in the area). the hike across the mountain from ulriken to floyen, with views to the town and harbour, 8' tall stone cairns as trail markers, minor ups and... Wow - what an amazing hike. We went from Floyen to Ulriken and it took us 5 hours with very few stops. Stunning scenery. Mostly signposted or obvious which way to go as its a popular route with lots of locals running / hiking. Tough terrain - waterproof hiking boots recommended. Also v windy at times. No mountains open so... More
