This place is amazing! Beautiful surroundings and built in with the nature around. Clean tanks with a lot of fish. Very fun and educational. Everything was great. Friendly staff. We were very lucky with stunning weather and very little people there. Absolutely recommend!

At the very end of the road, facing the big ocean, lies an archetonic gem that completely agrees with the surrounding nature. The aquarium welcomes us with an open hospitality, however the building itself is almost hidden so that you are certain not to miss the astonishing view of the horizon of the North Sea. Inside we are met with tanks that goes from the floor to the ceiling, making the experience something like walking under water. Every detail is taken care of.
Still, what we remember the most, beyond every local made fish cake in the café that tasted heavenily homemade and beyond the guide giving the penguins or the cods food, sharing their knowledge with an agreeable smile and a humorous angle, was the local charmer of the whole area. A seal that really wanted our attention and when he got it, he played with us like the window between us never existed. I am completely certain that he'll remember us as well.

We were appalled by the water and tank standard of the placed, just a few days after the Coronavirus shutdown. We hope it will be better – soon! The place itself is amazing, drawing from the nature surrounding the site and benefiting from the Atlantic Ocean on its doorstep.

We did this as a side trip off a cruise. It was Winter and the place was obviously closed to the public as renos being done must have had an agreement. Be interesting to see when renos completed. Interesting visit obviously lots of fish. Penguins and seals very cute. Think it would be good in Summer but probably would expect crowds then.

Nice aquarium. Lots to see. We braved the wind and rain to see the otters, penguins and seals but mainly stayed inside. The car park is a bit of a walk in the rain but it was worth it.

We booked a tour of the Atlantic Sea Park through our Princess Cruise ship. It included the Sunnmore Museum and a City Drive. Unfortunately the October 22, 2019 was heavily raining and very strong, gusty winds. Our tour of the Sea Park was limited to the interior exhibits which were excellent. The strong winds had disturbed the salt water tank visibility but the quantity and variety of sea life was amazing.
Highly recommended. The kids would love the site and feeding of fish and seals.

Of the various aquariums visited through our trip in norway, Alesund had the best layout, activities and animals to see. We caught the seal feeding which was amazing to see, saw the otter bay and the layout of their various tanks with species of fish and crustaceans was informative and great.

Large tanks hold fish native to Norway. While we were there, they fed shrimp to some of the fish. The children especially enjoyed seeing them leap into the air to catch the shrimp. There were also smaller exhibits, with several species of huge crabs and one with a gorgeous blue lobster. Unfortunately, the day we were there it was very cold with sleet, so I didn't go outside to see the seals or penguins. Those people on our tour who did, enjoyed it very much. But October isn't the best time to visit outdoor sites in Norway. But I enjoyed what I could see, very much.

If you love the ocean, this place is for you. You will see the aquatic species from
the Atlantic. It has large collection of different varieties of fish and other animals. You will see different species of crustaceans. You can interact with stingrays. The main attraction was the feeding of the fish inside the huge aquarium. You will experience the frenzy when the diver feeds them. It's a totally different experience. The staff are great and helpful in every way. The cafeteria has good choices of food. Overall, this is a good place to see when you are in Alesund. Highly recommendable.

Great to visit for families with children who appreciate fish and other sea creatures. Parking lot is far from the building itself. Not so much visitors, which is great for us since we don’t like waiting in line.

Is the E136 bus a good option for getting to the Aquarium from the cruise ship dock? Can you pay cash on the bus for a family?
Atlanterhavsparken - Norwegian Aquarium
Alesund, Norway
Yes, the bus leave from the citycentre every hour from 10.30. The price one way is 41 for adult and 21 for children. IT has to stay 634 on the bus and easiest is from across the street from the Jugendstil center. The last bus back is at 15.50.
