Very Impressive Venue incorporating enlightened contemporary and historic exhibitionsn and

There's so much crammed into this place that it would need several visits to appreciate the wealth of exhibits. The open-minded racial quality exhibition is commendable and the main house contains enough long-case clocks to qualify as a horological museum. Also, some lovely paintings for those who enjoy Gainsborough, Constable etc...

Great oasis in the heart of Ipswich

Lovely to walk around the park only minutes from the town centre. Disappointed that the Visitors Centre was closed

Power of Stories Exhibition
Aug 2021
An excellent exhibition, and free!! original Black Panther costumes were fantastic. All the items on display were great and the items were very well organised and the walls were not crowded. We took a lot of time to read and ingest everything on show. We want to return before it closes.

Brilliant free visit

Brilliant place to visit. Lots to see. COVID makes it a one way system. Can take photos but no food in exhibition rooms. Good Cafe.

Great Place to Visit
Jun 2021
This was a really great place to visit with lots of interesting art, antiquities and cultural memorabilia. We like the location and the mix of modern and old in the exhibitions and the staff were very helpful. The building itself was very interesting and the only real improvement was there were some signs missing and some of the explanation could have been better. Apart from that a great afternoon spent out there.

Really interesting historical building showing life many years ago, with wonderful exhibits of glass, silverware and furniture. Lovely surprise to see paintings by Constable and Gainsborough. A real joy.

Well worth a visit and it's free

We weren't expecting to visit this museum but we had an extra day and it was open. Was fascinating with a wide range of exhibits reflecting both the property itself and the local area. Well maintained by the local authority it is a credit to the town. Keep a look out for the horse teeth!

Free!

Not only gratis but original features and furniture and no roping off apart from keeping the one way system so you can inhale the history.
Lovely staff, too.
I'm not especially a fan of Ed Sheeran, which I know is a treasonable offence in Suffolk, but the exhibition was well worth a visit, very interesting and informative.

A treat for the senses.

Took a trip into Ipswich today, which included a visit to the Christchurch Mansion.

Very few visitors when we walked around, meaning no pressure to rush through the rooms. No over zealous guides either, so it was a definite treat to have whole rooms to ourselves. Some lovely paintings and artefacts to look at. Whilst the building is grand inside had a really cosy feel to it. The oldest part had sublime wooden panels; uncovered plaster detail; dimly lit, giving more atmosphere and it felt as if you could be part of a period long gone.

We did find more to enjoy with the Ed Sheran exhibit.
