Every week at the Jerwood DanceHouse on the Ipswich Waterfront, we host over 50 dance classes and courses in our world-class dance studios. Covering a huge variety of styles, for all ages and abilities, including contemporary, creative, zumba, tots & co, adult ballet, tap and musical theatre to name just a few!

DanceEast is so much more than what is presented in the theatre - we bring dance to people in schools, hospices and sheltered housing. Working with people from all walks of life; from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with special needs, we're privileged to see how dance changes lives every day.

DanceEast delivers ground-breaking work through projects working with 'looked after' children and those at risk, as well as children in hospitals and older people in care homes, offering them all the opportunity to use dance for creative expression and physical and psychological therapy. Dance can energise, motivate, encourage creative thinking, and develop expressive minds and healthy bodies.

Went to see a friend dance. My first time at this location. Ticket booking by phone was easy (picking a seat via the website was slightly confusing. Upon arrival staff were friendly and helpful. Ticket was found immediately. Cafe provided good light snacks. (Jacket Potatoes or Sandwiches for example). Theatre was small and intimate with good seating and legroom. Vision... More

Went to see Candoco on Friday, an inspiring performance in a fantastic venue. The company was celebrating 25 years and the Q&A after the show was informative and useful. The dancers were stunning, and looked amazing in the spacious stage space and intimate auditorium of the Jerwood DanceHouse's theatre. Great production standards, friendly staff and lovely evening all round.

Found this place by accident while using the adjacent marina. Had a spot of lunch there and it was well worth it. Service good, food fresh and plentiful and value for money. Staff were very friendly too.

At short notice I booked a ticket for the Little Match Girl and I'm so glad I did. The four dancers created an enchanting performance which was enhanced by the marvellous onstage musician. A wonderful show and all for just £5! I shall be going again - so do yourself a favour and book a ticket for another show, which... More

This was my first visit to DanceEast and I shall certainly go again! This touring company of just 4 dancers and a brilliant accompanying composer/musician gave us a show of sheer delight. Clear story-telling, imaginative use of scenic props and a fascinating variety of dance styles. I loved the contrast between the delicacy of the fragile matchgirl and the sturdy... More

Utterly captivating & moving piece showcasing the many talents of the company .The layered & inventive musical accompaniment was pure genius. The last time I saw a piece this memorable was Lindsay Kemp's work in the 80's. Thank you Dance East for bringing this work to Suffolk Xxx

I have a sinking feeling I have peaked too early in 2016 seeing this stunning - visually as well as artistically - piece! I am not confident I will see anything else that can match it (pun intended) during the rest of the year. Adults and children alike sat enthralled.

Akram Khan's piece is typical of the quality performances Dance East attracts - quite brilliant! Apart from the varied programme of shows,Dance East's wide variety of classes and standard of tutors produces a wonderful crop of homegrown talent,as evidenced by the occasional showcase and community project. Suffolk is very lucky to have this facility and should be justly proud.

A gorgeous building showing a world class programme of contemporary dance! Also friendly staff and yummy cafe... 15 min walk from station. I came here for my first visit last week to see Protein 'May Contain Food' and will be back to see the Igor & Moreno show. Thoroughly recommend!
