Although I have lived locally for many years, I decided to partake in a tour of the castle recently. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Do make sure to see the Colchester Vase and Fenwick's Roman Treasure. There's plenty to do in the locality as well including the lovely park, museums, art galleries...

The castle museum was renevated 3 years ago and is now a great introduction into the importance of Colchester in history . A great museum followed by a walk around the beautiful castle park, as good as anywhere in the U.K.

We were thinking of going to another Castle today but very glad our friends suggested Colchester Castle instead. The interactive options are really good. I'd recommend paying the extra Pound to get the tablets that really illuminate the history. Well worth the entry fee. Had a great visit!!
