In my young days this was a fully working harbour with two ferries operating everyday, one was a paddle steamer the PS Canterbury and the other was the Maid of Kent.. Boat trains would come in from London and would leave again to go back with a steam engine on the front and another two on the back to push... More

Folkestone harbour fell into disrepair many years ago. Over the past ten years thought and money has been pumped into the harbour and the surrounding areas making it a pleasurable sight. The works are continuing with the arches and swing bridge being refurbished and a footpath being installed to give more views of the harbour. Hopefully will be completed during... More

I have lived in Folkestone my whole life and nothing can beat a Sunday stroll along Folkestone harbour. With such beautiful views (all bar the burstin hotel) you really can't beat it. Situated a short walk from the town centre or the coastal park there really is something for everyone. There are seafood stalls a few pubs to choose from... More

A harbour mainly used for small fishing vessels bringing in local fish and seafood. Around the harbour are several stalls selling seafood, several pubs, restaurants and eateries. To one end there is a small sandy beach ideal for families. The harbour is tidal and cannot be accessed by boats at low tide.

Folkestone harbour is such a relaxing place with so many wonderful little pubs serving lovely food and restaurants. This has been enhanced so much with the Harbour Arm opening last year and due to reopen at the end of March. There is usually free entertainment all weekends with more wonderful places to eat and drink. So glad i moved down... More

Folkestone is having a lot of building and regeneration work. Some of the harbour was closed but you can still visit etc. Looking forward to returning when the works are completed.

A LOT OF RENOVATION HAS HAPPENED AND IS HAPPENING, This is bringing to the forefront lots of history to the present day, there is lots of remembrance to focus one minds. There is a selection of shops, bars and restaurants to while ones days away and I believe the railway track / station is next to be renovated.

Plenty of places to eat, lovely walks along the harbour wall and on t g e beach to the east of the Harbour. A walk up the road of rememerence brings you into the Folkestone high street area. Look out for the Folkestone triennial art works.
