This is a 'small scale' Fountains abbey in Monmouthshire but a little cheaper!. There is good signage all around the Abbey indicating the history of the rooms and their uses. Not very large but will fill a good hour, also nice riverside walks.

Tintern Abbey is a stunner rising up in the valley. It's wonderful for photos and just to wander through. If you're interested in history, even just a little bit, the tour guides paint a surprising and fascinating picture of what life was like for the...More

A beautiful landmark, the ruins are pretty to look at. I was very disappointed that it cost so much to visit and in hindsight would not pay again. It was a short trip and the asking cost didn't justify the experience.

This place is amazing - we drove quite a distance to see it and it was worth every second of the drive. As Americans, we don't see stuff of this age on our home turf, and even in ruins, it is a majestic sight. It...More

This ruin is steeped in history and is a must see if you are in the area. There is a nice pub and shop close by and parking costs can be reclaimed when purchasing refreshments.

As the previous traveler wrote it is visible from A466. You can see quite a bit from its car park if you don't have time to go inside although it would be a shame to miss its grandeur.
