We had a pleasant afternoon here today. It was an idyllic place to visit - a great place to sit and relax amongst the flowers. It was well kept. We thought it would've been good to have had some of the flowers labelled so we...More

Tintinhull is special as its small compared to many of the great stately homes many people assume and associate with. Before you enter the home make sure you visit the history area section to your right hand side next to the tea room. Thats free....More

A lovely visit to Tintinhull. The Manor House has a couple of rooms on the ground floor open for public viewing. However the star attraction is definitely the wonderful gardens. Laid out in distinct areas or “rooms”, they are an absolute delight to wander round....More

Packs a huge punch for a small facility. Well-signposted off the A303 if heading west [heading east take Montacute turn and access Tintinhull via country road from Montacute village], good parking, warm reception. Small shop and small café with outside seating. Gardens are OK for...More

In the years since my last visit, I had forgotten that the plantswoman Penelope Hobhouse had lived at Tintinhull for more than a decade. Cues from Hidcote, two and a half hours north, are apparent in the garden design. The 'rooms' are a perfect size...More

Lovely Gardens. Nothing much for children but pleasant non the less. Small cafe but if you want something more substantial ham cake there’s a fantastic pub 2 minutes away - Crown and Victoria.

It’s a gem of a garden set out in a room format so relaxing in the water garden we even managed a garden swing together without any damage. Again volunteers friendly and knowledgeable popped into the cafe for tea We had been to Barrington Court...More

I visited on the last day of May and the weather was perfect for strolling around this beautiful and inspirational garden. I have visited Tintinhull many times and am never disappointed. There’s a wonderful contrast of formality in the hard landscaping, but also the self...More

Just off the A303 but could be many miles away. Surrounded by traditional orchards and protected by a high wall. The garden is expertly maintained. Only disappointment was to find all sandwiches sold out by 12.45.

Hi Sarah, Dogs are welcome in the courtyard where the small shop and tearoom are but they aren't allowed into the gardens. If you do go you will understand why, but the garden 'rooms' wouldn't be appropriate for visitors... More
