About
Gauntlet Birds of Prey – Eagle & Vulture Park in Knutsford, Cheshire is home to over 180 birds from 50 different species. At the park you’ll see a wide range of birds from Eagles, Hawks and Falcons to Vultures, Kites and Owls. We also have more unusual species such as Caracaras, Red-legged Seriemas, Marabou Storks, and Pelicans. The park is also home to Meerkats, Goats and Polecats. Each day at the park there are two flying displays – in these shows we discuss conservation, the habits of the birds, etc. There is a ‘Vulture Restaurant Talk’ where we chat about vultures in the wild and a ‘Meet and Greet’ session where you may meet our smelliest, cutest or largest feathered or furry friends. Join us for a fantastic day out! A must see/do if you're in the area
A fantastic place to visit, all the staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. The talks & shows were educational, interesting and the 3pm show was particuarly spectacular! Food and drinks are available on site, indoor & outdoor seating, a childrens play area, lots of free parking, a gift shop and many different birds of prey as well as other animals to admire. Gauntlet allows you to leave and re-enter as many times as you want on the day of your visit so inbetween the scheduled shows you can also visit the garden centre next door. The outdoor shows arena has wooden benches and is uncovered so be prepared for whatever weather you might experience on the day of your visit.

    A fantastic day!
A great day with my son (4). Some fantastic shows and a good variety of birds and animals to see despite it only being a small space. Staff were really friendly especially the man in the cafe. Would highly recommend.

    Great day out!
Without a doubt, one of the best birds of prey centres in the UK! Pay a visit and make sure to attend the shows - they're absolutely brilliant. The keepers are so passionate about the care and welfare of the birds and do a lot for conservation. Highly recommend paying them a visit.

    Breathtaking and emotional
Without doubt one of the best experiences. We only went for the afternoon but the final show nearly had us in tears! Didn't think that would happen, but the birds, the staff and the work they do is nothing short of amazing. Kudos to all involved. Will definitely be back

    A memorable day
I attended the park as a spectator whilst my partner completed the 'full day birds of prey' experience and I had an amazing time despite not being the one handling the birds. Our guide Sam was incredibly knowledgable, friendly and clearly very passionate. All the staff's passion for the welfare of the birds, both in captivity and in the wild was contagious and I have immediately gone to research ways I can help support vulture conservation after having no prior knowledge of their plight. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff. Seeing and hearing about these magnificent birds was a privilege and it certainly left a lasting impression on me.

    Awe inspiring visit
Had a fantastic trip out to Gauntlet Bird of Prey at Knutsford. We were there for the Simply Owls Experience. That, along with the displays before and after left us speechless. The care and compassion shown to all the birds as inspiring. Would highly recommend.

    A Perfect Afternoon
Your visit will be boken down into 3 areas; 12.30 display, followed by meet the animals and then the 3.30pm flyby. In between you can walk around the extensive aviaries viewing the birds and animals or go to the cafe for a drink and cake!. The birds form an extensive collection including Hawks, Eagles, Buzzards and Falons to name some. It is an extensive collection with some very unusual birds such as the Marabou Stork and the Red-legged Seriema. You can clearly tell that the handlers really do care about the birds and have both an informative and expert knowledge. Overall it was a perfect afternoon, containing both surprises and a fabulous ending!

Visited the sanctuary today and had the most amazing time. Great range of birds and you can tell how much the staff care for them! I would definitely come back and I’ll definitely look to sponsor vultures (not something I would of said before today!) Definitely give it a go you won’t regret :)

Worth every penny. All should visit
A wonderful wonderful day out. The enthusiasm and understanding of the staff who work there is superb. For me it was a 60th birthday present. It is sad to hear the the problems these beautiful animals are facing across the world. I hope the youngsters who were there today will visit when they are 60 and they can see how successful conservation supported by the Gauntlet has been. Thank you for a fabulous day and the work you are doing.

We had a VIP owl experience and it was fantastic! Dylan was our guide and he was ace! Super patient with our nephew and very knowledgeable. He made our experience a perfect balance of learning and enjoying the quality time with the amazing owls! All the animals are wonderful and it was a privilege to be so up close to them! What a day - a perfect gift and great day out.

First of all we couldn’t find the place, the sat nav took us to a completely wrong place, lady who worked there said many people have that problem! Good choice of birds to look round, a small play area for the children, what really let the trip down was the food in the cafe, inedible sandwich were available as part of a meal deal they must of been days old they were so dry and stale (not cheap either) be warned to take a picnic

Dear Sally, Thank you for your review. However, I must address several inaccuracies and concerns raised within your review. Food in the café: Your claim that our sandwiches ‘must have been days old’ and were ‘so dry and stale’ is completely false. All sandwiches are freshly-made each morning. If you were unhappy with your choice of sandwich you could have discussed your concerns with a member of staff, who would have been only too happy to replace or refund you. This would have been a more appropriate action to take rather than write a review about it. We pride ourselves on always being on hand to help and discuss any issues or concerns a visitor might have during their visit. Price of food: Our meal deal prices and content (£6 for a sandwich, packet of crisps, a chocolate bar and a drink) are clearly listed and are in-line with current market prices for our type of venue. We don't have any issues with you bringing a picnic to the park, it is mentioned on our website and in various social media posts. Navigation Issues: It is unfortunate your GPS led you to the wrong location. Our address is clearly listed across all platforms, many customers find us without issue, some do have an issue. The park has clear signage on Manchester Road. If you had an issue you could have contacted us and we could have provided directions to help you. Writing an inaccurate public review days/weeks after your visit does not give us a chance to address any real problems or rectify them to make sure all our visitors have the best time at the park - they can be damaging to a family run business like ourselves. We always aim for 100% visitor satisfaction, which you can see from the many positive reviews here and across other review sites. I would suggest that if you visit us again in the future, please communicate any concerns with us immediately so we can resolve them properly. We would be only too happy to listen. We are glad you enjoyed our collection of birds and the children's play area. Daisy Bessant

Had an amazing time at Gauntlet today. The vulture experience was great and Sam is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the birds.
My absolute favourite part was flying Leonard the raven. I’ll definitely be back!

We have just come back from the Gauntlet today and I needed to write this review ASAP….We had arranged the taster day for our 5year old grandson and these guys gave him the day of his life!
So much so he was crying tears of joy as he didn’t want to leave!
Special mention to Sam and especially Cane for their wonderful manner and patience with us….they are a credit to the Gauntlet and made the day special for us all as a family, with their professionalism and passion for their work. They have given us memories to last us a lifetime!
I would recommend 100% a day at the Gauntlet not only for families with children but for the more mature of us who need to get the message that we need to help save these birds and follow in the footsteps of the staff here…..Thank you all very much….we will be back and will do our best to support you in the conservation work you do!

Just WOW! What a place to visit and learn about all of these amazing and beautiful species - a great opportunity to be up and close to these magnificent birds - we have had an amazing day even the occasional rain pour didn’t ruin it for us - all of the staff were super friendly and the handlers presented the displays extremely well and clearly knew your stuff- it was great to see and hear the passion in the work they are doing to support the endangered species to - everyone who is able to, must visit this place you will not be disappointed. We will be visiting again soon as we are keen to support such a fantastic centre.

We had an amazing day at Gauntlet! Different shows throughout the day meant we were entertained the whole time, and had ample time between shows to have a look around and have something to eat and drink. The presenters (Daisy & Jake) really knew their stuff and knew how to entertain, inform, and make the audience laugh. The finale at 3pm was my favourite thing about it all - the story that was told alongside the flying show performed by these beautiful animals was so impressive and inspiring. I'm telling everyone I know about Gauntlet, showing off videos of Kevin the red legged seriema 'killing' a rubber snake, telling everyone how bendy polecat ferrets are, and insisting everyone knows the importance of vultures! I can't wait to go back! Excited to look into the events and workshops on offer as well. Must remember sunglasses next time though.
