I have to get my fix of this wonderful place every time I come to Lerwick. If you love textiles this is a smorgasbord of delights. The shop is also full of handmade textile treats.

Showcases the local designer knitters. Original ideas abound and will have you going off to find the genius behind the designers workshops. This is the must visit Shrine for Fibre Artists visiting Shetland.

Looks scruffy and grey from the outside (authentically!) but it's one of those tiny museums that Shetland does so well. Genuinely interesting and staffed by ladies who know so much and will explain what you need or leave you in peace if you wish.

Having been to several other textile displays in Shetland I found this disappointing. The Shetland Museum had a much better collection and is free. Beautiful things on display, but mostly items for sale. We were probably in there around 10 minutes

My husband just parks up in the car park outside and gets stuck into a good book whenever I go to the Bod of Gremista because he knows he won't see me for ages. It is a very small museum (two rooms downstairs and two...More
