I love the artist who did this piece and it’s awesome to see in person. There’s a parking lot and a little walking trail. Easy to make a quick stop at on your way into Newcastle.

It's smaller up close.... but nonetheless impressively iconic for it. Its near a busy motorway, so its not exactly the place for quiet contemplation, but truth be told the crowds won't allow this anyway. Worth a one off visit but not really anymore.

For goodness' sake, keep your eyes on the road if you drive down (or up) the A1 and go and visit something worthwhile, like Durham Cathedral or Alnwick Castle or spend some money in the Metro Centre. Living in Northumberland, every time I see the...More

Drove passed this massive sculpture enroute to Scotland on the A1. It stands proud of all its surroundings and every time I have seen it, I am amazed. You can park nearby to enjoy the close up splendour view. Have your camera ready to capture...More

You would be hard pressed to miss this on your way into the City from the Southern side, the Angel of the North greats you as you pass by, there is a car park very close to the structure, at the time of my visit...More

Viewed when travelling on the A1 especially going north. Unable to stop for a close up visit. From my first sight some years ago I now find from distance that vegetation in the form of trees and bushes has now surrounded the site obscuring the...More

I've been here multiple times over the years and always love stopping by. Its easy because its just off the A1 and the car park is right next to it. So its great even for a flying visit (pun intended) There aren't that many amenities...More

A must-see if you are in the area. We know of "Another Place", the artist's work at Formby but the "Angel" is bigger, bolder, and, in our opinion, better. The local landscape would be poorer without it.

A must to visit when you are heading to Newcastle, on your right just after passing Washington on the A1/M. Easy to find and park. Just sit down and let you mind wonder. It is such an inspirational sculpture that transmits tranquillity and pride. A...More

This really is an iconic landmark of the UK now and can be seen for miles around. It's impressive up close although as always too many people posing with it to take good pics. Well worth seeing and it's free.

Hi, the Angel is on the A167 Durham Road just before it joins the A1. There are loads of buses that use this road as a southern route out of the Newcastle/Gateshead conurbation. I don't use that many buses so can't... More

The sculpture is designed to capture our imaginations so it's not identifiable as male or female, you see the form as you want to see it whether that's male or female. Either way the angel is stunning and you will enjoy a... More
