Impressive natural caverns that have been mined for ochre and iron ore over 4,500 years. Visit nine impressive caverns, going down around 100ft (31m) underground. Displays throughout. Spectacular underground projections. Great Cafe and Shop, Picnic and children's play area (can all be visited separately from the Caves). Ample free parking. Special events through the year. Exciting Deep Level adventure caving activities. Great for all the family.

A very interesting place to visit; a lot larger than we were expecting. Attentive to local history with little touches that add to the interest. Good value.

Really interesting attraction with excellent interpretation and information boards throughout. All self guided underground too which adds to the excitement of being on your own. All very well presented.

Nice, reasonably-priced exhibition that didn't get boring at all, and is good for all ages. Great for an easy afternoon out

There is a bus from Gloucester (Nos 31 or 24, the drivers can drop you off before you get to Coleford and there is a 1/4 mile walk to the Caves. Local people will all know which way you need to walk. Hope that helps. Thanks... More

Yes they are welcome around the site but would not be allowed underground. There are some nice walks around the common and shady car parking if needed. Thanks Jonathan
