It was our first visit to the gallery and museum and a treat to see the exhibition of Bagpuss and friends. We will lookout for future events and visit again. Also a very interesting small museum.

We enjoyed our chance visit to this gallery. We were mainly looking for a coffee - having been unable to get one at the Pier House restaurant in Westward Ho! because they had a wedding reception in progress. We ended up having lunch as well as a tour of the very interesting exhibition in this free gallery. No time to... More

The Burton consists of the Tourist Information Office for visitors, bookings can be made for National Express Coaches. It has a shop selling cards, toys, books etc. The exhibition galleries change frequently with interesting displays & exhibitions. A display corridor shows off the work of local craftsmen/women, this leads to The Café Du Parc run by a French owner. This... More

We called to Bideford after an aborted visit to Clovelly (the weather was horrendous!) And noticed the Burton as we parked. It's a surprisingly large space with an interesting museum upstairs and art gallery / cafe on the ground floor which seemed very popular and busy, plus there is a fantastic shop with lots on sale from local artists /... The latest exhibition is of some of the original items used to create childhood programmes such as the clangers, pogoles wood etc. It is not a big exhibition and there aren't hundreds of items but it is amazing to see how simply and crudely these props and puppets were . The clangers are knitted and a lot of mechano string and... More

I often visit the Burton art gallery when I am in Bideford. There is always something interesting to look at and their collection includes some beautiful local coastal painting and drawings that I love to see. There is also a good shop and local artists work for sale in the side gallery. The Café du Parc is a popular local... More

Attended a preview evening last night of this new exhibition, which was packed. If you are the right vintage then this will take you nicely down memory lane.

Having visited Bideford on many occasions I can't believe we missed this place. The gallery has some gems, the shop is full of gorgeous cards and gifts and the french style cafe serves the best coffee and cakes - for miles! The staff were kind and enthusiatic and from the programme of events it looks like there are some cool... More
