Overview
More
A varied 4.7 mile walk classed as Moderate along the South West Coast Path as it heads along the east coast of Portland, passing great scenery, historical forts and old quarry workings. Many of the paths around Portland Bill are accessible for powered wheelchair users and rugged pushchairs. The first ½ mile of this route follows a level wide path, but after this becomes more varied with some steep and uneven sections before reaching Church Ope Cove. From the cove to Portland Heights the path is relatively level apart from one steep climb.

We undertook the coastal route around Portland, lovely walk. The Lighthouse is about the mid point. The cafe/restaurant are quite expensive here, but the view is beautiful

We recently visited this light house, you do need to be reasonably fit, as the climb is steep, with some 155 steps to the top. It was worth the effort, with an informative guided tour.

But the restaurant made up for the that with fresh scones and good portions of cream and jam to boot. Tea, enough for 4 cups. Good friendly service. Perfect stop for your cream tea or snack.
