Visited Sandsfoot castle in August with the in-laws. Its a stunning place with beautiful grounds to walk through, and of course the Sandsfoot castle with its history and stunning views. There is a tea shop within the grounds to stop off at if you wish to do so.

Sandsfoot Castle is just one of those amazing little spots in Dorset that if you are near by and looking for somewhere to go for a picnic is worth a look. Great views and lots of grass to chill it's perfect for those sunny days!

A lovely place to stop whilst walking the Rodwell trail, the gardens are very well kept and the castle a hidden gem of history. Combine this with amazing views of Portland harbour and the Chesil with the bonus of a remarkable little hatch cafe that churns out lovely tea/coffee and lunch time snacks, I dare you not to be diverted... Castle and gardens look lovely. Shame about a lot of rubbish including alcohol boxes left around the castle. Not worth going especially to but if walking the trail worth detouring slightly to see.

Walked to sandsfoot castle several times during week of 24 September whilst staying at chesil vista holiday park. The gardens looked absolutely stunning, what a credit to the gardeners who do this. The castle still looks amazing and is a well deserved use of lottery money. We remember what a state the gardens and castle were in for years and... More

Visited with partner &a friends Sun.9/10/2016. Walked up from Chesil Vista holiday park. Wonderful garden leading down to the remains of this interesting historic fortress built by Henry 8th. How long it can remain before further erosion fron sea totally destroys same is questionable. Small cafe on site but not sampled. Must be visited. Warning - be careful of speeding... More

We found the castle while walking the Rodwell Trail. Great views and good information boards. Maybe not worth going to on its own account but definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

Great little place for a quick visit and wander. Great views and some history to soak up. Better to add to an itinerary than to make a special trip to see.

Not an awful lot to fill the time but interesting enough and a great view of Portland. Wouldn't make a special visit but if you are passing go.
