This 19th century Fort includes a museum highlighting coastal defence. Built by the Victorians to protect Portland Harbour, Nothe Fort is one of the best preserved forts of its kind. The advances in technology that affected the fort are explained through many displays, exhibits and audio visual facilities located on the ramparts, gun decks and maze of underground passageways. Enjoy the stunning and far reaching views of the Jurassic Coast from the picnic areas on the Ramparts. These will provide one of the best vantage points on the south coast.

Had a great day out at Nothe Fort. Place is brimming with history. Was amazed at this size of the place. Got to see the cannons being fired. And the surrounding views are wonderful. You really will not be disappointed. Please support our collective heritage.

Completely non digital experience. Plenty of models, displays etc in a fantastic spot overlooking the sea. The cafe has a good choice and offers gluten free bread. It’s the only place in Weymouth I could get a gf crab roll and it was great.

no bus service, but it's quite easy to access if you walk along the jetty and up the lifeboat station

I think so. I don't think you could take a dog into the inside of the fort, but you could probably at least walk the battlements and sit in the cafes patio

l think it's 11.00 til 4.30pm but it's doesn't admit anyone else in an hour before closing. Seniors are a pound cheaper than normal entrance fee.
