Cracking venue. Great selection on tap and good selection of bottles especially the range of Belgian beer. Relaxing place to pass the hours by, but standout is the selection of bar snacks to complement the beer. Pork pies, Scotch eggs, selections nuts, cheese, crisps and scampi fries. Keep you supping for hours.

We always start our Sunday afternoon out here. It's a great bar with some fantastic artists on. Very warm atmosphere and more beers/ales that you could possibly want.

Gone down hill.

Used often in past (pre covid); then gap, then quick visits one pint only between trains once in March once in June. Average, nothing worth reporting.

It scores only 2.

I know it /was/ a good place for good ale, in the past, always -

Last week [September] 5 nights n Wigan hotel and visited Central 3 times each for 2 pints.

4 different ales sampled.

4 of the 6 pints were short measured and had to ask to be topped up.

Paid by cash, one transaction they asked for more after seemingly unable to work out that 2 x £1 + 1 x £2 coins = £4.00 for a pint price £3-50 means I get 50 p change, not asked for 50 p more.

All of the ales were too cold; condensation should not be running down outside of glass like some ice cold CO2 fizz.

It was the really hot September week, maybe they over cooled the cellar, or, I hope not, maybe they though cold ale right.

The ales were thus mediocre, the cold overpowered the real taste.

The only reason I persisted 3 times was because of past visits, and being more or less en route from stations to hotel was easy in the hear without much walking effort in +30C heat.

All round poor.

I am now put off the place. to me it was a salvation of changing trains in Wigan.

Great quirky themed venue with friendly, engaging staff serving a wide range of craft beers and ciders. Reasonably priced and perfect to begin a lazy afternoon bar crawl with friends here before chugging off along making tracks towards the town nearby following a relaxed paced timetable of our own.

As a Devon lad weaned on cider at a young adult age I recommend the mango and lime craft guest cider - but resist no more than 3 if you can as any more (and like me) you may feel myself heading off the rails!

Will be back let off more steam in here soon!
Many thanks.

We visited early afternoon midweek and found drinking here was a ‘magical’ experience. The reason why, was the great choice of beers and the friendliness of the staff. The lady pulling the pints was very chatty and provided information about the different beers.
It was a difficult choice to move on and drink elsewhere, but with perseverance we managed to have our last drink here before catching the train home.
