Affectionately dubbed the "Mother Road," this 2,400-mile route was the first all-weather, continuously paved highway linking Chicago and Los Angeles. The storied path is legendary for spawning America's signature roadside architecture and attractions, vestiges of which remain today.

Little bit run down in some places, but still worth spending some time visiting curiosity museums along the way. Time definitely goes much slower here. It’s a must see kind of attraction, if you drive a car around this route.

I've been on various parts of the route in NM, Texas, and OK many times over the years. If you go through Shamrock and McLean,Texas, check out the old gas stations.

It is fun to drive this historic highway. Many of the old attractions can be found along the route. I really enjoyed the sights in New Mexico and Arizona.
