Family of four with young kids (10,5), roadtrip in Saguenay and Charlevoix, August 2020.

What a great little museum. Can be visited in 2-3 hours, the collections and nice and the beautiful Goelettes are amazing. Beautiful site to take pictures.

This is definitely worth a stop. Not a big museum, but a great place to spend 1-3 hours. Great tour and history, interesting and well-presented.

Don't miss the "garden" walk. Wonderful imaginative play areas for kids under 14 and a beautiful place to stretch your legs.

It's a journey into a different time

What a beautiful museum of a local history. Interesting and unique artifacts from distant past; lots of them nicely restored.

The exhibits are informative and explicit.

Good place for visiting with families and kids. You can walk around and go hiking. There is a nice boutique and a cafe.

Please come and enjoy.

Top notch

We were thoroughly impressed with the exhibits. We learned a lot about boat building, and boats on the St Lawrence River. The children loved the trails, the maze and climbing on the boats. Friendly staff at the cafe and a great gift shop too. What a great facility.

Quite a surprise
Aug 2018 • Couples
We stumbled upon this place by accident during a days drive along the coast. Kind of out in the middle of nowhere. I didn't have very high expectations but it was a good time to stop so we did. I was surprised at what we found. This is a very nice museum and surrounding property. There are boats to explore, hiking available, and nice exhibits. They work hard to give you a glance into what life was like back in the day. Also a small cafe is there. Well worth the stop.

Terrific museum with lots to see and explore
Aug 2018 • Couples
My wife and I visited in August 2018.

What a pleasant surprise this museum was. In fact, it was one of the highlights of our trip through Charlevoix and Saguenay!

The museum, in French and English, paints an amazing portrait of maritime life of the past hundred years. The displays, the artefacts, and the boats (which can be explored) were fascinating.

Adults and kids will love this place – we did!

Pleasant surprise for the whole family!

I was expecting to see a few old boats/schooners...WOW....was I surprised. The museum 's new exhibit hall allowed me to understand how vital the schooners were to the livelihood of Charlevoix and the Quebec region as a whole. Many exhibits are inter-active. The trails and playground area are suitable for all ages. Seeing the trees/forest that the schooners were made from was like a personal walk in a by gone era. The snack bar 's menu was perfect for lunch and the view......PHENOMENAL!!! This attraction is on my list for all my visitor's to see. It was a perfect day for all my family (ages 3 to 81). Worth the drive wherever you live!

Old Boats to Explore
Oct 2017 • Friends
This museum is a must see. It covers the maritime history of the St. Lawrence and focuses on boat building techniques of the past. There are several boats, including a 1923 tugboat, and old schooners that are up in dry dock and available for you to walk through. Very informative.

Quite a treat to experience life on the river without the risk
Aug 2016 • Friends
Oh yes the indoor exhibits are great, but wandering the shipyard and the interior of the old river boats was so much more fun and entertaining.
