Carew Castle and Tidal Mill’s rich history spans over 2,000 years and tells of knights of the realm, kingmakers, Elizabethan intrigue and Civil War devastation.

Set in a stunning location overlooking a 23-acre Millpond, the Castle is one of the most architecturally diverse in Wales; from the west a Norman fortress, yet from the north a splendid Elizabethan mansion.

The site also incorporates the only restored Tidal Mill in Wales, an 11th century Celtic cross, a Medieval bridge and picnic area all linked by a mile-long circular walk, suitable for buggies and wheelchairs, with magnificent views over the Millpond.

The castle is interesting but doesn't take long to look around...but the walk around the estuary to the Mill is lovely and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

A great trip here over Easter, the children loved the egg hunt and the Archery was enjoyed by all. Fantastic scenery and lovely little café down by the mill.

Amazing castle and so much to explore. Children loved it and so glad we stopped and explored, as had only intended to view the Carew Cross at the front of the castle grounds. Easter egg hunt was good for the children. Lots of rooms to go and explore and steps to climb - always good with children! After exploring the... More

The Castle had amazing views in a beautiful area. It was extremely accommodating in allowing dogs in the castle on lead. However it would.have benefited from more information boards to learn more about the castle's history.

This is such an interesting and slightly different castle in a picturesque setting on the bank of the tidal Carew River. Over the years, it has changed from a Norman castle to an Elizabethan manor and evidence of the different periods is clear to see. We were staying in Tenby and caught a local bus out around midday and we... More

Not a patch on Pembroke Castle but worth seeing nonetheless. Not very clearly laid out despite leaflet with layout. Could have done with more comprehensive information. Outdoor kiosk selling drinks/snacks and lots of picnic tables. Had well supervised archery activities for children being Easter Saturday. The Tidal Mill was quite interesting with audio commentary on each floor.

A stunning , tranquil location to take an evening stroll around the outskirts of the castle on well kept paths suitable for buggies and scooters! It's a popular place for dog walkers too. Excellent place for using crab nets off the estuary wall when the tides are in. We love this walk 30 to 40 minutes at an ambling speed... More

Have visited this castle many times. Its history is linked with Pembroke castle (although it is much smaller). Wouldn't miss it at Christmas. The visit to Santa is truly amazing - best ever and we have been to eurodisney to see Santa. Nothing beats this experience. Christmas carols by a roaring open fire. Wonderful smells and the craft fayre. Its... More

Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed our Christmas Fayre. We get a lot of compliments about our Santa (as he is the real one obviously!) and have to agree he is fantastic with children and goes above and beyond with each child. We hope to see you again at this year's Fayre. Catering has definitely been... More
