Home of the Marquess of Anglesey, with spectacular views of Snowdonia.Set on the shores of the Menai Strait amidst breathtakingly beautiful scenery, this elegant house was redesigned by James Wyatt in the 18th century. The 1930s restyled interior is famous for its Rex Whistler association, containing his largest painting and exhibition.A military museum contains relics from the 1st Marquess of Anglesey's tenure, who commanded the cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo. There's a fine spring garden and Australasian arboretum, with an understorey of shrubs and wild flowers, a summer terrace, and massed hydrangeas which give autumn colour.A woodland walk gives access to a marine path beside the Menai Strait.

We was welcomed by a guy who went in for the hard sell on out friend to join. It was to the point of borderline harassment. Our friend made it clear he didn't want to join but this guy just went on and on in an attempt to embarrass my friend to join because there was now a big que.... More

The highlight of the visit to the house was the mural by Rex Whistler in the dining room. We visited this property whilst in north wales. The house is very interesting and the grounds are lovely. We walked the 1km to the gardens. The paths are bumpy (as explained at the entrance) but the walk was more than worth the experience. It was so peaceful.

There's something fishy r everyone with a very interesting house, tasty tea rooms and a fantastic tree house and adventure playground for the kids. A great day out and shouldn't be missed if in Anglesey..

Was told that there were red squirrels here and as members of the National Trust it was a great way to see them for free. Beautiful location, stunning house & gardens. The staff were really helpful & friendly. And to top it all we saw a glimpse of a beautiful red squirrel. Was so excited & thrilled to see one... More

Good to see the children enjoying the Easter Egg Hunt, enjoyed the lovely view across the Menai straits to the mountains. We had the best description by a guide ever of the fantastic Whistler mural. Best mural I have ever seen, anywhere in the world.

Lovely gardens with activities at Easter for the young (and young at heart). The art in the house is also a revelation and the history of the family interesting with good displays throughout.

We've been to Anglesey many times but only just visited Plas Newydd. A great house and grounds to walk around with fantastic views of the Menai straights . A small woodland park for the younger children and a frisbee course to play on. Only downside was the cafes only offer a limited menu . Well worth a visit .
