The 38m long mosaic is impressive but the building itself is a great piece of Modernism in a city full of handsome architecture. The mosaic by Gino Severini depicts the history of telecommunications which works very well with Franco Petrucci's geometric building (built between 1939 and 1941. Anyone interested in modernist architecture would appreciate this building

The Palazzo I've seen in the past have a true Palace atmosphere to them. However, this huge modern-like building is the main Post Office building in Alessandria, facing what is now a parking lot, when they should have left it as a quaint park for elder citizens, as it probably once was. Now, it's a parking lot. The building is within view of the Hotel Alli Due Buoi Rossi, just some yards away. I needed to exchange some money into European currency, the Euro. It was practically impossible to do that in any bank, anywhere. I was intructed to go there to the Poste e Telegrafo. I sat and waited in line in a modern hall. When my turn came, I was specifically asked for my passport, even to exchange a mere $50! I don't walk the streets in Europe with my passport. No way, can't exchange, eventhough I gave them my hotel, etc. Their behaviour, however, was very belligerent. I am careful in Italy, we were once robbed in Bologna and the police couldn't do much about it. Authorities, it seems, are useless there. Have currency with you, or risk something or another!

This is the main post building placed in the Alessandria's city center right infront of a huge parking square. It is just a normal quaint building, but what I have to admit I've been astonished by the beautiful long mosaic that entirely cover the lower facade, it is a representation of the continents and something else very colorful. All in all it's a quite curious building.
