Wonderfully preserved remnant of the Greek temples that once occupied this entire valley. Was so well preserved since it was used as a christian church which kept it from being torn down . probably better preserved than most ruins in Greece!

Just missing the roof, it survived because I was used as a church until the last century, then the church trappings were removed to leave the original building

La valle dei templi is a wonderful historical site and a "must see" when in Agrigento. I have been to this site alone and with guests on many occasions and I am still in awe of the civilisation and the creation of those who lived...More

What surprised me about most of these temples was mud which seemed to be caked on stone. I suspect this comes from a combination of rain and periodic African socorro dust storms.

This temple is awesome as it is almost complete. I have never seen an ancient ruin that was so original and it is quite stunning and beautiful.

Appears to be a minor temple, but I could be wrong. It is the most complete of the temples in the valley and is quite impressive. The grounds are better than at the Parthenon.

Most complete temple in the valley. Amazingly complete. High on the hill opposite Agrigento town. Fantastic views of the surrounding area. Highly recommend a visit.

WE were also visiting this wonderful site on our own, at our own pace, and actually you do not need a guided tour.
