Tried to find information online if the cable car is now open or not but could only find info that it would open April 1st and the ride schedule. Went to visit on April 10th and the cable car is still closed. There are construction scaffoldings around the station at Castellammare. I wish they had clear information about it being... More

Advised by the Thompson tour rep that the cable car was open on the 1st April we decided to give it a visit on the 2nd of April.Caught the train from Sorrento knowing that from previous visit the cable car is accessed off the train platform. To our dismay the entrance to the cable car was completely boarded up with heavy... They have a sign stating they will open in April 2017 but it's looking like it will be a few years, if ever. We examined the building and even asked a few taxi drivers if they ever see work progress but they all confirmed our suspicions that nothing is being done. Such a bummer because we were really looking forward... More

The cable car is a really fabulous ride which affords stupendous views over the Bay of Naples. Not to be missed! The ride was shut for a couple of years for refurbishment but I understand it is open again now and we are going in April. Strangely, many of the locals from near-by locations such as Naples seem unaware of... More

You get to this by paying at the train station for Casttelmmare Di Stabia and going along the train platform. It goes up 1km and gives you fantastic views over the bay of Naples.. Feels safe and very smooth. It can get a bit chilly on top of the mountain. There's a bar up there and a few walks you... More

Can't believe how good this was! This is not advertised enough! The cars run every hour from a small station. Starts slow but the views are amazing! A must activity if you're in Stabia

We went up the mountain and was astounded by the views (even if it was a bit hazy). We went for a short walk to the view point where there are two bars, the one we choose was very reasonable and we spent a very pleasant afternoon there. There are options for longer walks and for cycle hire both normal... More
