Free entry. Sounds strange place to visit, but this was built in Medieval Times and is where the townsfolk did all clothes washing until end 1980's! Fed by mountain water, which flows into bay - so you get a cold bit when swimming in sea

This is a must stop in Cefalu to see how washing was done in the 1400s and earlier. The stone washboards are still there and you can hear the waves from the beach on the other side lapping up against the sea wall. It's very...More

Walking around the busy streets hides some of the real gems in this stunning town. The wash houses are a real eye opener and reveal some interesting historical detail. Well preserved and worth a look.

Worth visiting if you are staying for a long period in Cefalu and very easy to get to by foot (5 to 10 minute walk from the beach). Nothing too spectacular that cannot be found elsewhere. It was also pretty smelly when I passed by...More

You walk down some steps to where they used to wash all the clothes. Impressive set up in regards to seeing the water flow and keeping things clean. It’s free and a quick attraction if you want to see something. Not really information about it...More

How fascinating to visit a well preserved Medieval/Arabic laundry site and to get a glimpse where women for centuries came to do their wash.

Visited as we were in town for a week. There isn't a whole lot to this "attraction", other than seeing where people use to wash their clothes.

Just off one of the main lower streets is this medieval wash house.Interesting to see what hard work it would have been.

A medieval wash-house, in use until relatively recently and now restored, making use of the pure running water with a high calcium content. Free and worth visiting

I've seen a lot of history around the world, but I can't believe I visited a medieval laundromat. The water is freezing as it comes from under the ground a runs through this medieval laundry on it's way to the sea. You can walk through...More
