We were told exactly where to go an we still walked past it twice. The spot is a hidden gem in Cefalu and should not be missed. Is this how they really washed their clothes centuries ago?? We were told that there was water running...More

Tucked away down a flight of old stairs is a very well preserved piece of ancient life, very well designed for its purpose and easy to imagine in use.

I am extremely pleased than many visitors find little of interest here, because it meant they went away fast, leaving me alone with the sound of trickling water and a fine place to spend almost an hour in thought. The setting and architecture is remarkable,...More

This is a unique and cute architectural feature and should be visited if you are in the Cefalu area.

Well worth 10 minutes of your time just to see how things were done in the past (and maybe not that far in the past though now there are too many tourists to risk actually using it).

Located in the middle of the old town the medieval laundry opens your mind to a remote life where women gathered together to wash their laundry and probably sing and tell there latest news.

The venue is located in the old town. Parking is not possible, the old town is closed for non-residents. The site is a little hidden, down some stairs. The place looks more like grotto than a washing house. It’s excellently renovated and worth a detour.

Great little stop as you tour the town. Its amazing to see the history in such a small area of how they used to wash clothes.

no guidance or further explanation will help you to get along. Just a simple sign without any context. That is not enough to help regular visitors understand the useage of the structure and its historical background.

Hidden Away by the sea, through an arch, lies the ancient laundrette. It's free to see, but is worth a quick visit. The photo shows what there is to see.
