Highly atmospheric. This shaded, narrow, medieval street, with its vaulted buildings over-arching the cobbled thoroughfare has retained the character of the era in which it was constructed. Between the wars, it was the city's red light district. But it now boasts only houses, and a few restaurants serving excellent food

Loved the Via delle Volte for it's apparently unchanged appearance. Quiet and cool to walk down when we visited. Gives a real feel of times gone by.

Interesting getting away from busy town life and wandering the back streets in the older part of town. Lots of brink and a sense of time. You can almost feel the resistance operatives of World War II running down the streets and disappearing into the shadows.

We followed the Via Capo delle Volte the whole way along its very length as it was part of the Blue walking trail on the tourist map of Ferrara. We could not understand why this street was supposed to be so special.

I see that some European posters are less than impressed with this charming medieval thoroughfare and I suppose that if there were anything like it at home, I wouldn't have been so enthralled. But there isn't anything remotely similar in the United States, and I found it quite wonderful--although I do confess, I first happened upon it after dark, which... More

There are so many photo opportunities as you stroll along this lovely medieval street. It is quite long, but well worth the walk.

A wonderful tiny Street in ancient Ferrara, don't miss it. Space was at a minimum in the old days and they have make the most of the arches

Capo delle Volte is right in the centre of Ferrara, it is a little pretty street that when you walk down feels like that you travelled into time. It is just beautiful!

I think it depends what time of day you travel this street. First of all, it is cobblestone and not really nice to walk on. But it IS original. Secondly, when the shops are not open it is absolutely DEAD. That being said, it is lovely and there are few people so lots of great photo ops. I think perhaps... More
