We drove our small campervan up here, found a stunning spot to park for free with an amazing view of the whole bay and we planned to hike the next morning. We enjoyed watching and listening to the white cows with bells on grazing the steep hillsides. However the clouds and fog rolled in, it rained all night and the... More

If you are in the area, don'miss this wonderful hiking trail! Just follow the signs Redentore and than park at Refugio Pornito, and from there keep on walking all the way up! The way has hand rails, and it is not difficult to climb up there, just have good shoes for hiking! Take something to drink with you, the only bar... More

No need to walk from the sea level or the village of Maranola for that matter. Drive up the road marked for Redentore just past and to the left of the parking area under the castle in Maranola. Good parking in the area of the first refugio eatery and 1.5 hours to walk to the top (Christ statue). Super views... More

Not an easy hike but well worth the effort. Can be a bit tricky finding the trail's starting point but you'll be glad you did. Challenging climb to the summit. Lots of loose gravel and rubble. Not sure if the little ones would manage the nearly ninety minute ascent. And watch out for those ubiquitous cow patties! But the view... More

This was more than just an experience. It was truly amazing. It is a 6 mile hike to the summit, (3up/3down). Give yourself at least 3 hours at a minimum. I have attached photos of the map and parking location. It was difficult to find where to park because it is not clearly marked. We just kept driving up the... More

I was born in Trivio, Province of Latina, Lazio, Italy. Since coming to Canada in 1957 I have been there 7 times. To get to the Redentore you have to go by the road next door a Maranola, a winding road up the mountain but great scenery. On top the view is spectacular seeing Trivio, Maranola, Formia, Gaeta, and the... More

Found the place thanks to the trip advisor reviews. You have to trust your car a little to make it to the bbq place through a steep dirt road. Once you are there, you walk for about 30 min to the summit where you have a gorgeous view over the area!

Great view, but positon on the map is incorrect- it is ca. 10 km from Formia and you need to be prepared to drive some 5 km almost off road and then walk 30 min in the mountains but the view deserves the effort...

Looking up from Formia you can see the top of this mountain that is shaped like a church dome. Even from the valley you can see the statue of Christ, placed there in the year 1900 to commemorate the coming of the new century, on top of the mountain. The place is accessible by car going up the Maranola road... More
