Orvieta's magnificent Duomo (cathedral) is considered one of the must-see churches in Italy for its stunning gold-and-mosaic Gothic façade and magnificent frescoes by Luca Signorelli, which had a great influence on Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel.

Now you need to find somewhere to sit, look at the fascia of the building and read about it. It is a stunning piece of work. Well worth spending the time there

Everything about this cathedral / duomo is unbelievable. Perhaps most notably the front facade and the fact it took 300 years to build. But that's Italian builders for you!!

We arrived in Orvieto with COSMOS TOURS with free time to visit this Medieval cathedral and the unfamiliar settlement that's perched on the surrounding cliff. We chatted to Japanese honeymooners and took their photo. They gave us good tips about following the city wall back...More

The exterior mosaics are so beautiful. We could have spent the entire day watching the light change on the front of this church. It has a lightness that most of the stone churches throughout the country do not have. Do not miss it if you...More

The Cathedral is so beautiful from the outside, but it is even more beautiful, grand and peaceful inside.
