This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One after another, green and rocky mountains plunge dramatically into the Mediterranean blue sea. The famous Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picture book views each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

The beach is a little rough, It's worth renting a chair rather than just laying on the sand. However the views of the cliffs and the town and the ocean are spectacular!

If the main beach is jammed with tourists, walk around to Fornillo. It's so much quieter and gives you a different perspective to the frantic pace of Positano. Stay for lunch or dinner - some great little restaurants here too.

Quiet beach away from the main town area better suited to families. The backwash is pretty strong so have to keep an eye on little ones but the water is clear and warm. Sun beds are pricey (€25-30 for pair of loungers and parasol) but...More

Lovely, inconic views that span from the main beach to the castle. Smaller, more intimate setting with lovely beachfront “al fresco” restaurants ... The walk down to this beach is winding and a little steep, so may hinder some from coming, but each turn is...More

This is a quite beach in Positano away from the tourist hustling of the main beach. Family run pop up caffes for summer with lovely Italian panini and great conversation. Bring your Aqua Reef Shoe's for swimming, you should always carry a pair when travelling...More

Fornillo is a perfect place to enjoy the beach at Positano without being amongst the hundreds of tourists leaving and arriving by ferry. It is a 10 minute walk along the coastline, west of the main beach in Positano. You can spend all day there...More

Beach located on the west of Positano. It takes a 15 minutes walk from the docks. As we went at Autumn, there were few people there and we could sit and relax.

So glad we took the extra 10 minutes to walk down to this beach. The walk there provided beautiful views! The beach has very large rocks, no sand, and lots of beach glass! We were there for an hour and found a good palm full...More

Quiet beach away from the crowds. This beach is a great place to relax and take a swim. It's a cobble beach so you may want to bring water/beach shoes. The water is warm and inviting.
