You can't miss this imposing fortress built in the 14th century as it towers over the city and valley below. It can be accessed after a relatively strenuous climb or take the easy route via escalator located behind the Duomo.

Take the lengthy escalators up the mountain, then the elevators to the top. I ran the steps... I'm decently fit and it winded me! I think it was 7 euro to enter, the view from top is why you go here. Looking out over the town of Spoleto and behind to a historic aqueduct, both are great views. The castle/prison/defensive fort is intimidating.…

Many of the Umbrian Roccas have been destroyed, this one is intact. The museum is very interesting and worth several hours to enjoy. The views over Spoleto are captivating.
