Simply amazing
Duomo di Termoli; Cattedrale di Santa Maria della Purificazione is a Roman Catholic cathedral dedicated to the Purification of Virgin Mary.
We are not very religious but we were all taken by it and all had a great day.
We very much recommend it.

A couple of great little compelling secrets were unveiled for us at Cattedrale Termoli
May 2019 • Couples
We were fortunate enough during our week here to visit Termoli's girthy historic cattedrale twice. The first time she was operating in full regalia and splendor during a lovely service. For myself on that occasion, particularly outstanding are the outstanding carved jade entrance doors.

The second time mid-morning with nobody else inside we were fortunate to meet up with a kindly gentleman, possibly custodian, who took us to each of the primary altars for the two saints. Within them and visible only if dedicated immediate internal lighting was engaged, are the skeletons of each, if memory and translation of his words serve possibly Saints Timothy and Basso-each highly visible in such a circumstance.

It's interesting to me that modernity and technology play such a theatrical role in the after-life of two such piously glorified souls.

Old town gem
Jul 2018 • Family
Dedicated to St-Mary of Purification, the current building was constructedin the 12th & 13th century on a basilical ground plan: three naves and 3 semi-circular apses with piers or round bases.
Located in the oldest settlement of Termoli in a beautiful and relatively large piazza, the entrance door of the cathedral is reached by climbing nine steps. It is romanesque in style and there is a rose window in the most recent upper section.
A must see in Termoli.

Very nice old church that shared the courtyard with a few restaurants and our hotel. It was nice to see that it was still a meeting place for the residents as they gathered on the steps there every evening.

Termoli is a very nice city on the Adriatic. Great for walking, interesting historical treasures and good food and wine. It is a good starting off point to visit the region.

Wedding service
Jul 2016 • Friends
This was the venue for our daughter's and now son-in-law's wedding mass. The temperatures outside were very high and although the church was a little hot with all the people, it was very cool inside by comparison.
Beautiful service, wonderful occasion in this central venue of the old city. The atmosphere was quite spectacular.
We had visited the cathedral beforehand and the history associated with it was very interesting.

Church with interesting history
May 2016 • Solo
The inside is very simple. The historic write up gives good detail on its beginnings. It is in the heart of the old section. Requires climbing some steps to reach. Limited art inside.
