This is a festival week in Termoli; celebration of St Basso. There is a long shopping area filled with coffee shops, gelato shops, and clothing stores. On a summer night it is one big and safe party. At the end of the path you will find a mid-evil castle, it is worth both walking around and into the castle. Near the castle you will find the narrowest street in the world. (See picture below.) Walk thru if you are not claustrophobic and weigh less than 100 kg.

would be 5/5 review but access tricky--receptions, weddings, phone ahead reservation

We were so looking forward to getting into the little castle/museum which is so imposingly attractive and inviting from outside. However, the powers that be treat it somewhat like a fortress, generally requiring an advance reservation call. (See website for telephone number/internet access). we called and got only a vague prerecorded message. Is it a time of year thing?

We'll continue trying during this spring week but in shoulder season it doesn't seem likely. Still, Castello Svevo is an atmospheric and imposing site looking down on all from above.

Must see in Termoli
Aug 2018
Spent around 4 days in Termoli during summer and it was beautiful experience.
City is very clean and beautiful with decent beach and restaurants. Caste Svevo was one of my favorite spots.
The historic sites around the town make the stay in the area memorable and fun.

Not knowing what to expect we were delighted with Termoli. A nice, clean, sleepy Italian city with a lot to see around the old town with a wonderful beach.

Beautiful place

We ended up in Termoli because we wanted to see the Adriatic Sea and there was a nice Airbnb. It's just a very beautiful, clean, well kept up town. We loved it there. However, very few people spoke much English. They kept asking, what are you doing here? how did you hear about Termoli. We looked it up (after we got there) according to Wiki it's become a resort area for Italian families. We felt we were able to witness traditional Italian family interactions. The Sunday evening walk about town was so lovely. So many families, children, elderly, extremely well dressed and others not so, all walking together, chatting, smoking, having a meal or drinks at street side cafes. I want to go back.
