As far as museums go... needs some attention. Right now they are setting up a nativity set. It’s going to be live with actors and live animals. A spectacle in itself. I’m impressed!

We got the opportunity to visit the downtown Palazzo D’Avalos and its museum-garden. The museum is plent of historical pieces from early age up to medieval age, plus a very good explanation by panels or audio-guide. The exhibition has many ancient pieces to describe the age life also a comprehensive description of Vasto town history is presented by panels and photos. The house is well conserved, particularly the first floor with a nice outlook by a suggestive terrace sea-front (to see!).
The museum has also paints expo by 20th century painters, romantic and modern style. Finally, the garden: a nice walk there and an outstanding view of the beaches and sea.
We spent there about three hours, strongly suggested. Enjoy,

You should plan on spending at least an hour here to see the art exhibits, the archaeological museum, and the gardens. It is a wonderful old palace and very well preserved.

Although we were unable to see the whole museum due to restoration, this small town museum was surprising in its archeological artefacts. Well worth the eight euros.

First you are recommended to see the galleries of the 4 brothers, arranged in different rooms, followed by the contemporary art gallery, the archeological part and at the end you enter the garden which is marvelous. The old style maintained, beautiful vegetation and breath taking view. Liked it so much that we returned again in the evening and we’ve been invited to a wedding photo shooting that was at the moment there. Entrance only 5€, must see place in Vasto!

We visited here last week. Stunning - it deserves the title on the leaflet "wonder of Abruzzo" . There is so much to see - The Archaeological Museum, The Picture Gallery, contemporary art, The Costume Museum - even a collection of parade saddles. The Neapolitan style gardens are beautiful and the views from there spectacular. We visited on the evening of 21st September. I would like to say thank you to the delightful helpful staff. It was quiet - just us visiting - and they took the time to show us around and explain everything. Really good value at €5 with reductions for students. Free for under 10s and over 65s. The opening hours change throughout the year so check up before you visit. Highly recommended.

Vasto is a beautiful Abruzzo town and the museum is a great place to discover more about the history of the town. There were also some amazing art exhibits in the building.
