The sanctuary locate in Chiang Dao district, take times approximately 1 hour by car. To reach there you can take either plublic bus(Chiang Mai-Fang-Thaton) or Songtaew. The ambience is very quiet and peaceful, the show start with elephant bathing along Maeping river then elephants show. You also can do other activities like feeding food, riding and bamboo rafting.

This is not an attraction which treats its elephants well. They are chained up and ridden over treacherous terrain with weights on their backs which are too heavy! The center is generally run down and the overall experience was very uncomfortable as my heart went out to the poor elephants. Not an attraction which people should support!

We had a great time. Never did anything like this before. It is not a walk around a circle on an elephant. You go into the jungle, up and down hills in the jungle and into a river. There was even an elephant show that demonstrated how smart and powerful these animals are. A fun time for us. Then you... More

Very good guide. Lot's of interesting information about region, ancient and current history. Hike is challenging as conditions are humid.

It is wonderful to be back. The camp is right beside Ping river. I took the elephant ride in the forest and into the river. It was really amazing experience. Be sure to bring your dry bag with you since it can get wet. For the elephants lover like myself, there's no place more fascinating than the Chiang Dao Elephant... More

The ride on the elephant was great, but the show with the final was stunning. Get some banana and give it to the elephant and you will get a hug and kiss. Fotos are still on my camera...

This training center provides what appears to be respectful care for elephants, while providing visitors with an opportunity to interact with them, feed them, watch them be bathed in the river and perform tasks on command of their mahouts. Everything is done quietly and respectfully and feels nothing like a circus performance, but more like a caring interaction. Finally visitors... More

We did the raft trip early in the morning before it got too hot, and then was back in time to watch the bathing and demonstrations. Very interesting. After this we took the 1 1/2 hour ride in the jungle. The elephant is part of the Thai culture and has been for hundreds of years. If you don't accept their culture... More

Viator booking was excellent. Tour was lame but the elephant riding was great. Elephant trip was into jungle to a "village" in jungle then down a river. Riding the elephants was fascinating. The village in the jungle was a few huts for trinket sales to tourists. Do this trip for the elephant rides not the "tour".
