Love the way that this is so accessible, with plenty of interest,, and large enough still to find somewhere quiet and peaceful even at the busiest time of year. Recommended for cycling, really good routes to other villages and the site of the armistice signing in the middle of the forest. Excellent bike hire weekends at the roundabout at the... More

I have hiked in all the forest areas within reach of Paris ( ok this is an hour and a half away by car) and along with Fontainebleau this would be the best . It is so pretty , the trees are mature and mixed, there are hills ( small ones ) views, lakes and beautiful little hamlets . There... More

Absolutely beautiful place to take a walk. The forest is massive of course so choose your route carefully, although it is very well signposted. So Serene and peaceful.

A huge forest with plenty of well signposted walking trails. Generally reasonably flat so relatively easy walking.

My wife and I rented bikes and spent a fabulous late fall excursion in the beautiful forest of de Compiegne. The forest has an interesting historical past as almost all French kings have been hunting in this large forest. It's also the place for important events during the first and second world war. We enjoyed our approximately 25 km bicycle... More

The forest was clearly sign posted with easy parking. Horses, dogs, families, cyclists and runners use this location without it feeling busy. Well worth a visit.

Liked the space and extent of the forest. Paths are not paved outside the small park. Not really a problem unless you are disabled or pushing a buggie.
