The walk to the obeservatoire is the highlight... The observatoire itself offers long waiting times on a busy day...(and a nice view I guess...).

If you drive up to the car park (switchback road), it is only a short walk up to the observation tower. If in season, get there early to avoid the wait - only 6 people at a time allowed up.

The tower offers a beautiful view over the lake and the mountains around it. The viewing point on top is over all the trees around it. But you need to go a few meters off the route. So nothing for your best shoes.

Just climb and enjoy the view. From there you can see the lake and the wonderful surroundings. The place to go in Gerardmer for a nice walk.

Be aware : only 4 persons at a time are allowed to climb up there. Plus, there is a lot of visitors, therefore you might wait. But it worths the view !
