What a lovely building. Excellent, well planned exhibition of marvellous manuscripts too. And a super restaurant in the rose garden under the arch. Staff of the library were very helpful. Recommended.

Tours are only in German but if you are not a German speaker don't let this put you off. This is spectacular building particularly the King's Salon but there is plenty more to see on your tour.

This beautiful building is almost dwarfed by the huge Bamberg cathedral, which is located next to it. It dates back to the 17th century and combines both a library and a gallery, which, alas, were both closed during our visit.

It was the residence of the Bamberg prince-bishops beginning in 1602. It now houses both the State Library and the State Gallery.

This is the area where the Bishop lived. It allows a visitor to experience a glimpse of daily life. Also, the Three Muskateers was filmed there. There is a large courtyard and some interesting architecture. This is not a destination stop but if you are...More

Hello. There is no english only tour. As you enter each wing of the building there are cards in english you can read as you move from room to room. Our tour guide spoke english and was able to answer any questions we had.
