A very interesting interior including the only papal tomb north of the Alps . Several fascinating monuments and the area outside compliments it well .Walk through the Bishops Palace Courtyard for an excellent view of the town .Sadly in November the roses had all but...More

Excellent view of Bamberg on a clear day. Take the bus to the top and work your way down. To me it is too steep to climb. Renovations going on so you are limited on what you can see.

Sad to say we couldn't see much of the church as it is covered in scaffolding and construction for its renovation and reconstruction, but the view over Bamberg was worth the trip up. The garden is lovely and the Benedictine Way is a nice walk.

St. Michael;s has been closed for renovation for at least 7 years and there is no end in sight. Even the outside of the church and the former monastery are shrouded in scaffolding. The interiors are closed.

Just when you have enjoyed every church you have seen, you stumble on yet another beautiful church. This church definitely is not small and is quite beautiful. Make sure you give yourself time to visit. Highly recommend.

We have seen the interior before the renovation and it is interesting, if not spectacular. The exterior is interesting for those who understand the detailed development of styles. For those unfamiliar with stylistic developments, it is probably indistinguishable from most of the other churches in...More

St. Michael's Cathedral is large and impressive. There is one disappointment. A part of the ceiling in the main church has fallen and you can not enter any longer. This is too bad because the tomb of St. Otto can not be seen. However the...More

Elegant look from outside and also inside the cathedral. Located on the hill. It is landmark of the city. Do not miss when you are there.

I think the church isnt open for public. The mass is only for the imtern or monks/nuns. IMHO
