Although this is the national gallery of Picasso, other artists are also exhibited, and done very imaginatively too. It is a lovely building (or complex of buildings really) with some stunning works by Picasso in a variety of media as well as many works by other people. "La Guerre et La Paix" in particular is a unique work which has... More

Musee National Picasso is combined with another couple of exhibitions. Two of them are the "Musee de la Ceramique" and the "Musee Magnelli". Most visitors (not a lot when we visited) go for the "La guerre et la paix" murals on the Church next to the Musee de la Ceramique". There's also a number of ceramics by Picasso. Unfortunately there's... More

Having read about Picasso's influence in this little town renowned for its ceramics we wanted to visit this museum and it didn't disappoint, For a very modest €5 entrance fee which also allows access to another 6 museums/exhibitions in the town, the museum has a fascinating collection of ceramic works by not just Picasso but also Magnelli - combined with... Plenty to admire in this place to visit. The building itself (with its solid interior reminiscent of a monastery) is worth a visit as it offers great views out into the Mediterranean, but it's filled with not only paintings and sculptures from Picasso but many other well known artists.

A high point of our trip. It is worth the stop, you could spend hours just sitting in the chapel and looking at it. Nice town, good food, but if you are in the south of France, you must visit.

This museum is open seven days a week from 10am to 6.15pm with a few holiday exceptions. It was a priory of Abbey Lerins. In the 13th century chapel is Picasso's "War and Peace" created in Picasso's Vallauris studio with the help of a local carpenter. A 10 minute video aid to understanding the work, one in French and one... More

The exposition is smaller than of the Picasso museum of Antibes and it also presents ceramics done by other artists. Still, ceramics handmade and painted by Picasso is unbeatable and the gem of the exhibition. Unfortunately no photos are allowed. Like in other places of the Riviera, there is a siesta break between 12 PM and 2 PM when the... More

Picasso's ceramics don't really excite me, but the chapel is quite moving. Watch the video (in English or French) on a screen in the corner which explains the meaning of the paintings in Picasso's own words. Also on the upper floors of the museum there are paintings, amazing furniture, ceramics and lights by other artists including Magnelli. Really worth visiting.
