Oldest working brewery in the world is still getting it right!

Phenomenal beer, great food, generous portions, very kind service. Went in February, and would definitely like to return once the beer garden is open. We enjoyed pumpkin soup, wurst salad, and pretzel-crusted schnitzel. tiny complaint - Very strong, pungent fresh lilies in the lobby. Their aroma was truly overpowering upon entering the restaurant. A very unharmonious smell to be hit... More

We tried to walk from the town centre based on the city map (from the Tourist Office) and it's not easy, especially from Vottinger Str. onwards. Thankfully there was a university so we could ask a few students for directions. The beer is good but the experience was marred by the long journey. It would have been better if there... More

The Weihenstephan Brewery offers tours and has a beer garden, restaurant, and pub. All of these are nice experiences for trying out some excellent beers. I made this part of a nice loop hike around the town of Freising. The hike was about 6 or 7 miles and went along rivers, through woods, through farm fields, and through formal gardens... More

I did not take the brewery tour, but I did eat/drink in their restaurant. The service was good. Beers were delicious and had about 6 to choose from which is normal for a German brewery. Food was great too. I recommend the meat three ways entree.

This is one of the oldest breweries in Europe and the quality of the beer is superb! We went on a rainy afternoon (took a cab from the train station - get the cab number to call them back when you are ready to leave because this is a bit off the beaten path) and sat in the cozy restaurant... More

The sit down restaurant has FANTASTIC food. Of course, the beer is great, and there is a cool souvenir shop at the bottom of the hill. I'm guessing the self serve is on par with most biergarten food. My husband had a burger that had brie on it - delicious - and I had a salad with chicken and it... More

It was fun to experience a beer garden on a sunny Sunday afternoon. This is obviously a popular place to be. Beer was very good. Beer garden was crowded with lots of flies and smoking. Food was OK. Service was OK - waitress knew we spoke English but didn't bring us an English menu. We assumed they didn't have any... More

Very nice location, great view, the food at the beergarden however is very expensive compared to what you actually get. In my opinion, there are other beergardens around Freising that have better food but not a comparable atmosphere.
