Tegernsee is about an hour away from Munich. During the week it's nice, but can get very crowded during the weekend. It's one of the nicer lakes if you wanna go for a walk on the shore.

I would highly recommend a visit to Tegernsee. We visited as a group of friends it took around an hour by train from Munich. It is a beautiful place with lots of nice places to sit and have a drink and enjoy the view.

We went here in mid-October during a beautiful clear and sunny day. The scenery was very impressive and the walks along/around the lake are well worth it. This is definitely one of the best lakes to visit in the area.

The lake is well spread and has nice stay places around it. We stayed at one overlooking the lake. Was good to walk upto /around the lake. Small Cafes serving baked items and coffee became a welcome break

Forget the italian lakes, the German lakes are spectacular. They are just as beautiful but more peaceful and except for the German food (ugh) a much better holiday. Fortunately there are Italian and French restaurants! Tegernsee and the surrounding towns are around the lake, there's...More

We loved our day here, great fun swimming, lovely beaches and lots to do eg paddle boat and boat hire, cafes and restaurants. Can't wait to go back. What a wonderful day swimming amidst the mountains.
