I stayed in Worms for two nights. I suppose you can see most of worms in one day but I really enjoyed walking through history in two full days. There is so much history to see seen from different eras in time. You also get caught up in the Nibelungen saga which can be seen in different places around the city.
Worms is a really interesting city and should be on more travelers lists

Finest romanesque architecture in Germany. Important for Germany's historic religious past & the other for the University. Over 2000 Yrs of history encompasses emperors, Jews & Nibelung legends. A blend of Gothic & renaissance past.

Visited on a bank holiday so to be fair it was very quiet. Still...to be fair there didn't seem to be anything that stood out but still decent enough for a walk around

I loved their little unique cafes. We went to one So Ho Cafe that actually started out as a persons residence but is now a reservation only if you want to sit place. They even have tables in the place where it used to be the stable area and there is an inviting fire and big pillows to recline on there. No one is in a hurry to leave. Amazing food though we only have their cakes. We went to a wine tasting place and walked and walked and walked. It never ceased to amaze me how they navigate those small streets. They park beautifully on the sidewalks or else nothing would get past.

All the main attractions of Worms are quite possible to walk around for a day or even less. From Hauptbahnhof or bus station (they are practically next door) to Alstadt lies the distance of about half a kilometer. Approximately the same distance is to the famous cathedral. Be sure to keep in mind that the Keiserportal opposite to main doorway is famous not less - here two Burgundian princess were arguing which of them should be the first to enter the cathedral. Going from the side of the cathedral main door, in a couple of blocks in an old church you will find quite interesting town museum. If from Keiserportal, in that case you visit another museum - Museum Heyleshof, which also deserves attention, because among its exhibits are Rubens, Tintoretto and a magnificent collection of European glass, including the Venetian and Bohemian. Jugendgasse and the adjacent side streets earlier formed the Jewish quarter of Worms.
Finally, you can stroll along the promenade along the Rhine, to which from the cathedral is about a kilometer, and see the monument to Hagen, who treacherously killed Siegfried, the hero of "The Song of the Nibelungs."

We walked for a couple of hours in Worms. Easy to get around from the docking area of the Rhine River. Crossed. A market and fairly large shopping area.

I was there for 11 months in 1952 ! It was beautiful, if you overlooked the bombed out ruins ! The people were wonderful, if you overlooked the two people that I encountered that didn't like Americans, which I was surprised it wasn't more, being that soon after the war ! You could eat off the streets and they did not cater to criminals ! Very religious, intelligent people, I left there wondering why we had a war with them ?

Worms get the traveler to midlle-age with the Jewish historic places: the Old Synagogue, the Jewish friedhof, the Jewish strasse.

History surrounds Worms and yet there is a fun aspect to it as well with fun dragons displayed around the town in various garb and colors. A bank has a coin going into an opening in the top. The university has one in academic garb and glasses. It is a walkable town.

We walked with Susan through Worms and she opened the eyes of our children even more to the events surrounding the second WW. Susan was so helpful and insiteful and we loved visiting with her. If you drive in Germany with out a GPS then give yourself 30 minutes on each end of your trip to get lost and ask for directions numerous times.
