We loved our visit! Could have stayed for hours! The guide and owner is just amazing and knows every train. She speaks French, German and English. Several trains are up and running which she proudly shows. Well worth a visit, train enthusiast or not!

Brilliant experience. The collection of miniature trains is seriously impressive - the miniatures go all the way back to the 19th century up until today. The collection is principally focussed on Swiss trains however there is a whole floor focussed on the Wild West of the US and has working models.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The owner is passionate and personally showed us around the museum and made us feel very welcome. We thought we would be there for 30 mins and we were there for over two hours!

A strange location for this original museum, which has a large and eclectic exposition of model trains, going back to the late 19th century. The visit is animated by the lady who runs the museum, which she does very well. There is a video show around different railway topics from Switzerland. The trains are in glas boxes, organized thematically. And then there are some layout with rolling stock. Downstairs is a part with a collaction of US trains, which I did not visited, I was quite saturated after an hour 20 minutes. I think this is really a nice place for those interested in model trains, for those who are not it may be overkill.

The museum is located in center of Crans Montana, canton of Valais, Switzerland. The museum is a heaven for those passionate about the history of railroads and miniatures. The museum does not have a continuous schedule, but the afternoon is closed for 2 hours, from 13.00 to 15.00.

Stumbled across thisplace on a quick day trip to Montana and boy was it worth going in.

The lady in the museum shows you a film and then walks you round the whole museum. It takes around 2 hours so allow plenty of time but for 12CHF it's absolutely worthwhile.

Rather than just viewing model trains she explains some of the rarer ones, what they were used for in real life, and how they came to be in the museum.

There's literally hundreds to look at but it is all Swiss, German and American so don't be disappointed if any of you are looking for British models.

I was like a kid in a sweet shop and I'm 36 but there's also loads for kids too.

My husband is like a six-year-old if it’ s about trains. So we went to Trains Miniatures place and it happened we were just two of us. So the lady ( she is adorable) made a V.I.P. show for us.

I will keep it simple.
I love trains. And this place is amazing, full of history, facts, photos, models.. everything a train geek can ask for.
But I do not recommend this place because of its content. No. Go there to listen and talk to the curator. The lady has such a spark inside her and her passion simply turns this experience from a museum visit to a journey through history. You feel connected to everything there and it is all thanks to her!
You can also buy unique model trains there.. Just amazing. Thank you for the experience!

Although this museum is advertised as a museum of miniature trains--it is much more than that! for the miniature train enthusiast it is a Garden of Eden, and for those who thought that this was just a child's game--well, come and be re-educated.
Here, you will learn about the history of the railroad, how and when it started, the problems encountered, the solutions found, how and why wars were won and lost because of rails and royal notions, what movies were made (Orient Express for one), how Queen Victoria traveled, and what restaurant cars were like.
Travel through the Wild West, and see a replica of car that carried Lincoln's casket to it's final resting place.
Silvia Beauvin is the irrepressible guide, brimming with tidbits and chunks of information and this is a visit not to be missed. Well worth the price, and the CDs were among the best souvenirs we brought back on our trip.

Very good museum with miniature trains in Montana. This place looks family-run and a bit old-fashioned but it perfectly suits to the miniature trains. Original and nice.

I honestly am not interested in miniature train, but I got the Swiss Pass which gave me free entrance to the museum, so my friend and I decided to pay a visit to this museum.

We had a really great time there and we truly enjoyed the wonderful tour given by Sylvia. She is the real asset of the museum, not the trains. We were so enthralled by her expertise in the trains as well as her passion.

So if you are planning to visit this museum, remember to ask Sylvia to give you a tour - you will not regret it.
