There are so many castles one can visit it is easy to be rather blasé about them. On our fourth day in Dordogne we decided to give this one a go. Well what a good decision that was. We arrived rather late and was pleased in April the chateau is open till 6 pm. It is awe inspiring from the... More

Perched high above the countryside of the Perigord Noir, this impressive chateau is worth a visit if only to see the fabulous views for miles in every direction afforded by climbing to the top. To use the audio tours in English, ID and an extra fee of €3 were required. Otherwise, if your knowledge of French is good you will... More

I've been coming to this castle for the past 30 years and have admired the excellent restoration work that has been done. My favourite is the great hall with the wooden vaulted ceiling. There are different eras throughout out the construction of the castle. beautiful vistas on a clear day, easy to visit with or with out a guide. In... More

We have visited this attraction many times over the ten years that we have lived here, with family and friends. Over that period, it has been possible to see renovations that have taken place. The views from the parapets and terraces are stunning. The interior tableau's and decoration are very good. You need to check opening times out of Season.... More

You have to be prepared for a lot of stairs and uneven cobbles when visiting this place so it wouldn't be suitable for wheelchairs or push chairs. I visited with my mother who did find it a bit of a struggle but she and I both agreed it was an excellent place to visit. The views from the different terraces... More

This chateau is a spectacular looking place from the outside. Inside it is still impressive but the audio guide and signage about where to move to next within the chateau need some help. In my opinion the audio guide is too long on facts and quite dry. I would have liked some more life to it. After a while my... More

We spent two hours here, fascinated by the building, the rooms and the history. We bought a combined pass for Biron and the Abbey of Cadouin which was good value at 11.60 euro. The English paper explanations are given out sparingly and we were only permitted one between two. However, the English audio guide (no headphones) were a better option... More

Standing up on a hill, the chateau can be seen from miles away on a clear day. The self-guided tour started at the chapel and went on to the different towers, rooms and courtyard. Because it was built and add-on between 12th and 18th century, and there was a change of this place from a fort to a residential chateau,... More

Beautiful castle, great art exhibition but not a lot to keep 3 kids interested. Stairs are lethal so keep your eyes peeled! Was also 35 degrees when we visited so a little warm for climbing!
