In April my partner and I went to Punta Cana and decided to do an excursion to Saona Island. As we did not book through an all inclusive, I was a bit hesitant but it was great. We were picked up from our condo and...More

It was a nice pleasant trip with crystal blue water and friendly people! Food was good and the weather was perfect.

Really is worth every penny. We did the trip with TIU. Early 7am start, coach ride to a lovely bay then a Catamaran with a sneaky snorkel en route. The island is simply stunning but if you have water shoes wear them as coral is...More

We traveled as a family of four to the island, with a group tour company. On the way out to the island we went by speedboat, with a brief stop by the natural pools about halfway there. The natural pools were really amazing, bright turquoise...More

In Love with “Palmilla de Saona” this is a blue clear water nature pool! Amazing! Also the beach of Vallahybe was a pretty beach too. But Isla Saona, the beach water was dark, with a lot of sea plants and rocks. The buffet for lunch...More

Took an excursion at 7am from Punta Cana to Bayahibe. The drive was about an hour. Upon arrival got on a speed boat to a part in the ocean where you could just stand in the water. Was there about an hour. It was beautiful...More

While the beach was beautiful, it was overly crowded with tourists, making it not near as enjoyable as it could have been. Our trip stated it would be 10 hours and ended up being over 13 hours. It was a VERY long day. The ride...More

We booked this excursion from our hotel through Expedia. The total price was $163 approx. It was a long trip from Punta Cana to Bayahibe where we boarded a catamaran to the island. We had a knowledgeable tour guide, a very nice "not pushy" photographer,...More

This is a must see when in the DR. If you travel to Punta Cana and do not travel to Isla Samoa, you didn’t even go! This place is Absolutely breathtaking! Probably the most beautiful beach you’ll ever encounter. Highly recommend!

I will say from our experience there are many different tour operators you can book through and the experience could change based on who you use. We booked through nexus tours in our hotel. Since we were staying north of the airport at the Punta...More

I'm sure there are, but it would probably be better to stay at La Romana, Casa De Campo or Bahahibe as they are much closer. It's a two hour drive just to get to the boat if you leave from Santo Domingo. My brother lives... More

You don't have to go into the water at all. In fact, I didn't at all beside just jumping off the ferry boat into shallow ankle deep water at the beach.

I do not think having a wedding on Saona would be a good idea because where they take you is for 30 to 45 mins to an open area and that area is a sandbar. It is like an open pool waist deep when I went.
