In the heart of the Barolo wine-producing region, the Cantina Comunale dei Produttori di Castiglione Falletto (Municipal [Wine] Cellar of Producers of Castiglione Falletto) offers excellent wine tastings in a cozy and typical Italian canteen, with a friendly, receptive and informal service. The wine tastings available are listed on a blackboard at the entrance of this canteen and are generally combined in trios that can include Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Nebiolli and.... the noble Barolo, considered one of the best red wines in the world!

We chose tasting a trio of Barolos from different producers and harvests together with an excellent homemade pasta with truffles! Everything was excellent. We will definitely return on a next visit to the Strada Romantica delle Langhe!

Also, it is worth strolling through the streets of Castiglione Falletto.

If you have time, be sure to spend a few days in Alba (the city I fell in love with, which I discovered to be my soulmate city!), a good base point for getting to know the Langha region. Discover more vineyards along the beautiful Strada Romantica delle Langhe.

We stopped here for lunch based on a recommendation and it was well worth it. We very much enjoyed the food, the outside setting and beautiful views. It was a glorious day which only added to the ambiance. Highly recommended!

Everything about our experience at the Cantina was fabulous - from the stunning views, the ambiance on the patio and in the cellar, to the quality of the food, the depth of wine selection and the knowledgeable and friendly service. We came here three times during our visit, the first time to enjoy a terrific meal (book in advance, it is very busy and has limited seating!) and the second and third times to taste and buy wines. Firstly, the food is outstanding and the staff very friendly. Highly recommend. The wine tasting was amazing. We wanted to try wines from Vietti, and were treated to seven tremendous wines from Vietti along with a detailed history and information on the producer and all of their wines. There was no rush, we spent several hours tasting and speaking to one of the owners (who spoke fantastic English and had a tremendous depth of knowledge and a great sense of humour). If you like Vietti, this is the place to go and taste and buy - they are the majority seller and as such have the best stock. The next day we came back to buy some wines, and were told we must try some other wines first. Three hours later, after trying nine other wines (the pours are exceptionally generous), we were able to purchase a variety of wines with confidence. The atmosphere and service were second to none. We were even invited to come into the kitchen to meet the family and see how they make the fresh pasta each day. What a treat. We can't recommend the Cantina enough, and will definitely make it a regular stop on our next trips to the area.

We love this place and the people working there are super welcoming. On each visit we had a tasting (some big some rather small) but we always walked out with at least 3 boxes of liquid deliciousness! Can highly recommend.

Having been an oenophile for years and been active in the wine business in a couple of countries (USA, South Africa), I had become a sceptic of the typical tasting experience in its inability to portray the true character of wines. Our wonderful hotel, the Castello Di Sinio, recommended we try this Cantina. They are spectacularly situated on a hilltop overlooking Barolo vineyards. The “Experience Nebbiolo” (the principal Piemonte red wine grape) offered us a flight of Nebiolo, Barbaresco, and three Barolos from different wine makers and vintages. And, they poured generous half-glasses (large red wine glasses), with the intent that we spend a couple of hours experiencing not just the differences between the wines, but the changes each wine underwent as it softened with exposure to the air. This was truly a great wine experience for me, despite the many vendor-arranged tastings I had been through privately and commercially. Add to that a wonderful lunch on the terrace outside the Cantina overlooking those spectacular hills. A must-do if you like wine and are in that wonderful part of the world.

This small cantina was a lovely surprise in the heart of the Barolo region. Lovely staff, great food, amazing wine selection, all at a reasonable price! Would definitely come back!
PS: food was really good!

Sadly (for us!) a bit like turning up to a party the morning after. Several open bottles of wine, just a shame they had been for so (too) long, and tasted so. Vacuum pump anyone? All in all, not great value for money. Better (for the same price) was a bottle of Paulo Scaviano in a well known restaurant just round the corner - plus you get a bowl of delicious pasta thrown in.

Seriously, the hype and popularity seems to be slightly spoiling what I’m sure was once a hidden treasure.

For us, better places to taste better quality/kept wine in such a wonderful region.

Dear Likegoodfoodandwine, it is really a shame that you where not able to recognise newly open bottles, during the year you might find bottles opened for a maximum of two days (after we take them away) but in high season (when you visited us) we open many bottles even of the same wine everyday, the oldest one can be of the previous evening, but usually they are opened since max two-three hours (our problem is to let the wine breath before serving...). We understand that a quick, shallow visit, can be not enough to understand a place, but you did not even noticed that you could have had a pasta dish also from us. For the prices almost 50 % ( but 80% of sales volume) of our wines has three prices, for one bottle, for 6 an for 12 and, for the great majority of the producers our prices are the best of the area, in many cases unbeatable.

Good tasting here, lots of interesting wines from around Castiglione Falletto. Did a good job trying to explain them to us in English. Biggest drawback, as serious wine purchasers was that there are no extra pours with any of the tastings (also they tastings are more like drinkings the pours are so large).

We had other plans which fell through, but there we were in Barolo with no place to go. We went to the little shop associated with this place and the man sent us back up the hill to the Cantina Communale. The service was amazing, we tried wines at our leisure and at really rasonable prices. I've never had two Barolos in one sitting before! I discovered a new wine that I never would have purchased on my own at a wine shop--Roero Arneis. Our host (handsome older guy with wavy white hair...Gianpiero?) was gracious, informative and fun. The terrace has the most beautiful view imaginable of the region. Don't miss this highly affrodable and informative activity!

We were here on a rainy Monday lunchtime and had very personalised service. Operator had excellent product knowledge so we learnt a lot about local wines.
Also has lunch here which was simple but tasty and well priced.
We were told that the nearby castle will be opening within months.
A lovely experience
