About
The LIBFL specializes in “assisted” DIY fishing. We provide the fisherman with a true walk and wade bone fish “hunting” experience with the guide offering advice and transportation to and from productive bone fishing flats. It is this “assisted” DIY walk and wade fishing adventure that we are trying to promote and want to become known for. The guide will remain on the flats at all times and if necessary the guide will move the fisherman to another flat if they are not experiencing success.

This was a wonderful place to stay! We were on the island for family business and lodging here accommodated all our needs. It was conveniently close to one of the best takeout restaurants on the island (Max's Conch Bar) and the main highway for access to everything else. We had a beautifully scenic waterfront view and fishing opportunity within walking distance. We will absolutely look to stay here again!

Our experience as DIY fly fishers was wonderful. Darlene was so helpful in all capacities. She scheduled our Day 5 Covid test at the local health clinic; worked with Markk Cartright (our guide and more on him later) to get us to the clinic at our scheduled time.
Darlene's cooking was fantastic...crawfish (lobster tail), grouper, chicken, and the best tuna sandwiches for lunch on the planet! The daily schedule was coffee at 6:30, breakfast (eggs cooked to your liking, bacon/ham, and toast/bagel or as a breakfast sandwich with orange juice ) at 7:00, and off to fish at 7:30.
This is an Assisted DIY lodge, and Markk was wonderful. He'd drop us off at a flat with instructions and hints, pick us up for lunch and then drop us off at another flat for the afternoon. Markk is a member of the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust and truly is a conservator of the fish and their habitat. We would be back at the lodge between 4:00 and 4:15.
As a side note and most importantly, we were the first to stay at the lodge since last March--that's right, almost an entire year due to Covid. If you want a great DIY experience, wonderful food, and hospitality then this is the place for you! You will not be disappointed. Travel to and from the Bahamas was easy....don't let the added criteria deter you!!!
