Nice lighthouse but the bugs!!

The drive up there was a bit of a trek, it isn't all paved. The lighthouse is nice, but fenced in. The shore is a great view, but rocky. Watch out for the flies though, they... read more

The drive up there was a bit of a trek, it isn't all paved. The lighthouse is nice, but fenced in. The shore is a great view, but rocky. Watch out for the flies though, they bite hard! I probably wouldn't go back there but was nice to see. Free to see and park but you are in reserve territory... More

This lighthouse is a bit out of the way, but the way there provides gorgeous views of the Georgian bay. We stopped and took some pictures on the way. There really should be some overlooks on the way. The lighthouse itself is fenced off, which is a good thing because there is tons of poison ivy around the lighthouse.

One of the many lighthouses along the shores of Georgian Bay. The lighthouse is no longer active, although a light is kept burning. You'll have to follow quite a long road (non-sealed for the last part), to arrive at a parking lot near the lighthouse. The lighthouse is badly (or not) maintained, and surrounded by a fence. Of course you... More

Showing a little neglect but it is still standing in a fenced in area. This lighthouse needs to be adopted by some friends to keep it preserved. This is a lovely isolated area and it is a long drive on a narrow gravel road along the shore to see it. We tried to see as many lighthouses as we could... More

Our young son is a lighthouse aficionado, so we serach out lighthouses when we travel. The Cape Croker lighthouse is a long ways from the main highway (#6) on the Bruce Peninsula. The lighthouse itself is an interesting design, but is surrounded by chain link fencing so you can't get too close.

Drove from Sauble Beach to check this local attraction out; It was a nice drive to get here but once we got here we quickly discovered that it is just another lighthouse here. Don't get me wrong here, they (lighthouses) certainly do job their for both the shipping industry plus boaters but are pretty much the same. If one wants... More

Never one to give up, on our second visit to the gorgeous Bruce Peninsula, we were determined to locate the elusive Cape Croker lighthouse. Be warned - signage on The Bruce for some locations is sparse. Get a local (and detailed map) from a Visitor Center (the one in Wiarton is a really great one). We were successful in finding... More

We drove for miles and miles. Yes, the views are stunning and that made the drive lovely, but eventually we ran out of steam and turned around and spent another 30 mins. getting out of that area. Never say the lighthouse, though it looks pretty in the brochure. Make sure you have snacks and beverages because we didn't see anywhere... More

Drive took longer than expected but great views along the way from Lions Head Area. Lighthouse is fenced around so can't get to close. Shore had nice views and lots of rocks for kids to explore and skip into the lake. Directions on getting there were not clearly signed.

What a weekend of aboriginal sights and sounds! I went to the Cape Croker Pow-wow during the last week of Aug 2011 and ended up taking a drive over to the shoreline to see the famous lighthouse. Every site is stunning on this reserve. Some of the best last on the Bruce Peninsula in my opinion and is a must... More
